The Day My Dad's 560 Came Left

Here's two pictures. The first one 1963 is the day my dad got his Brand New Farmall 560 Diesel delivered and that's me at almost 4yrs old. I was spinning the tire on the plow while the service man was checking out the equipment. The service man is on the other side of the plow. My dad's little 300 is on the other side of the plow also that he traded in.

The second picture is me again in 1991. My dad sold his equipment the next day at his auction.

560 was the first tractor I restored. It also was a German Diesel...ran like a top and always started even in the coldest weather. But first thing in the morning even if it was 85 degrees out, you needed to preheat it to get it going.

John - you sure got that second photo lined up to match the first one! Nice job!

A 560 with a German Diesel, are you sure?
560's had IH D-282 American built engines that used glow plugs for pre-heating.

Yes Jay my dad didn't abuse his equipment by any means. I did repaint it in 1980 and this picture was taken in early 1991 I think.

There's a young tree there now Bruce. It looks like a twig stuck in the ground by my right elbow.

Pete these were taken in Shiloh Illinois close to Scott Air Force Base. 20 miles East of St. Louis Mo.
AT the time the first picture was taken Shiloh had a population of 350 then jumped to 600 and I couldn't believe when it reached 750, now it's over 10,000. I have a lifetime classmate that is the mayor of Shiloh and he helped it grow.

I see it...I have very good memeories of my uncle getting a brand new 560 when I was 12 years old. What an absolute experience it was to drive that as a 12 year old. To this day, those experiences is what shaped me for life..
Thank God for our memories, as simple as they are,

Bruce
