I know this isn't a tractor, but I am changing trans fluid & filter.Does anyone know the torque on the pan bolts.Thought it would be with filter kit but it isn't.Thank you.

It's been a while. I never knew of a torque for the pan bolts but I do know they strip out the transmission case real easy. Be sure to look at all the bolts to make sure they are the same length. When we stripped out a hole on the side of the pan we would put a longer bolt in. This was 10 years ago so they may be different now.

Around 40 in. Lbs if I'm thinking right. Or a good light twist with a 1/4 drive ratchet don't over tighten it will bend the pan and cause leaks.

I just tighten them down with a 3/8 ratchet.
Don't know how many miles you have, but they don't recommend changing the filter until
overhaul. The spin on oil filter takes care of the small stuff. You can's get all the oil out by just draining the pan.

Most of the pans I've had off had round doughnut magnets in them and they have to be cleaned. They collect a lot of shavings. Good way to know what's happening inside your tranny.

If its the LCT1000/2000 like behind the Duramax/8.1, the torque spec is 20ft/lbs. It should have a reusable bonded rubber gasket. Don"t discard it. Some filter kits come with a felpro style gasket, I"d reuse the bonded gasket.

20ft/lbs is the factory spec, and believable with the rubber gasket. I wouldn"t exceed that tho. BW

PS. that spec is for the LCT, if its a cork gasket, you"ll blow it out at 20..

Ok thanks,I knew sombody would know. It's a 2011 3500 with 32000mi on it.I like to get the oil changed in the 1st year to 11/2 so I know if there is a problem before the 1st part of the warranty is done. Thanks again.
