Let's have a moment of silence

Last year I need about 100 3/16 washers. The hardware store wanted 7 cents each. I made my own for one dollar. TDF

I got a few with George the 5th, and a bunch with GR6th. A roll with a 'young' queen. Things like this never pan out well for the tax payer no mater what the talking heads say.
I forgot who said 'a million pennies here, a million pennies there, pretty soon it adds up to alotta money'.

Okay, I admit it - I'm a deceitful criminal.

When I was a kid, the soft drink machines (pop machines) operated on dimes. I used to slightly flatten pennies, file them down to the size of a dime, and use them to buy a bottle of pop.

Shame on me.

I guess that's not a problem with kids today. A bottle of pop now costs $1.62.

So you saved $2 and destroyed US government coinage thereby violating Federal law. If saving a couple of bucks was that important I would have found some other legal means such as buying one less coffee or soda.

Is your state controlled by nnalert or nnalert ? It makes a difference. Here in NY it will go up to 10% a jump of only 2%. It will make it easier to figure in your head. On a $20000 car it will be $2000 see, easy to figure. The next jump will be to 15%

Recon I'm a bad guy too. A few years ago the copper gasket on the oil filter stud of my Farmall cub broke. It was either improvise or drive 100 miles roundtrip to the nearest Case IH dealer. A penny has the same OD as the copper gasket so I chucked a penny in the lathe and soon fashioned a new gasket. Think its still doing the job today. Best penny I ever spent.

One of the older kids showed a few of us how to turn the handle backwards to just the right position on the old nickle machine at the elevator. Turn it right to that spot, then back around like you would if you'd put money in and you could get a free one.

So at what point does it stop being a crime? Fifty miles? Thirty dollars in savings? Please let me know. TDF

....and the Federal Govt printing "unbacked" money by the millions IS legal? You can't rob from a robber.

You already know the answer; it is always a crime. I just can't understand the apparent pride in destroying a significant quanity of US currency to save $2.00. If I was in a "pinch" and had to use a penny, pretty sure I could go to confession with a clear consience.

you must be some righteous person. Makes me wonder how many sins a day you do,as most people with your additude are actually the biggest hyprocrits and comparative to the pharisies.

I read that it costs the US gubbermint 1.2 cents to make a penny....Super stupid. The quality of the alloy should go down, use recycled aluminum cans or something.
