Kubota M7040 pto issue

Anyone ever had problems with the pto slowing when the tractor was used a few hours with a pto load? Where do I test the clutch pressure and what should it be?

Get a service manual before you get into real trouble Kubota has some odd ways to do things like mine you need to remove a snap ring and bearing to get the PTO shaft out its clear up in the middle of the trans case.
There is one on EBAY right now for $134 it will be the best money that you ever spent on your tractor.

(quoted from post at 13:45:27 02/04/13) Wrong---The best money you could spend on a kubota is a CUTTING TORCH!!

Then someone needs to stock up on acetylene as there sure are a lot of Orange tractors scattered around the countryside where I live.

I suppose by your handle, you'r opposed to Kubota because they are Japaneese. I own a JD and a Kubota. I prefer the Kubota. Incidently don't buy a John Deere if you want something made in the USA.

Pat I would bet he has never owned one.. Some reason they are selling like they are. Been doing it about 28+ years now and don,t have too many complaints.

Nat My experience is you are going to need a PTO clutch pack. Now before you do that you do need to check the system pressure. Just about going to have to get your hands on that shop manual. It may very well be that the hydraulic pump is worn and when it gets hot overall pressure low.
How does the tractor steer when it gets hot. Steering should be the first thing to go if the overall thing is low.

Doesn"t seem like a lot of hours for pto clutches. I run my 7040 on the haybine, round baler and snowblower. It just turned over to 1400 hrs Had it under load today with snow blower and it was pulling the engine down nicely. Curious to hear more replies.

I've had a Kubota for 36 years now and found it to be very tough and reliable. At the time of purchase, there were no small American made tractors in that size. All the American companies were using Yanmar, Shibaura,Mistubishi, etc.
