We had several pictures taken for Christmas cards 3 years ago just a mile from our place. In the middle are my wife and I then our son and daughter on the ends. This was taken at the "Louis Latzer Homestead" where he invented "PET MILK". His house is in the background. I don't know how many rooms are in the house but it's big. I always spray for bugs inside before our tractor show.

We have our Local annual tractor show there every year. I think next year marks the 27th year for the show.

Geez, I love that house. It's amazing. Maybe you should buy it...then you could do family pics over the generations.
 
Sweetfeet, thank you for the compliment on my family picture. The house and farm 78 acres was given to the Highland Historical Society by the Latzer Children.
We have a 1400 sq. ft. house and my wife wants something smaller when it comes to house cleaning. So I help her out on those days. then she's happy for two more weeks.
I have another picture of us that was taken in on the staircase of the Latzer house that day. I'll see if I can find it.

Would love to see any photos inside that house. Man, it is awesome.

Cost a fortune to heat? When those houses were
new, they usually had coal furnaces! Did they
have a hired man to keep it going?
 
We have many houses like that or bigger in this area. Most date back to the captians of sailing ships Most have a small room, ( Look out) on the roof for the wives to look out to sea for returning ships.
 
In Des Moines IA there is Living History Farms and there is a HUGE house on the farm that is absolutely beautiful. If anyone has a chance to ture the farm it is totally impressive! A whole day is needed to take it all in.
