I have a Ford 6600 , I'm not sure that's what it is , it has some strange numbers , tractor # starts with OX & unit # starts with 2 which records show 6600 was made from 75 to 81 so it wasn't made in a year ending in 2 . What have I got ?

Billy here is the serial number range for a Ford 6600:

1975: C450700
1976: C490300
1977: C527300
1978: C560500
1979: C595800
1980: C635700
1981: C660700

You need to post the entire serial number for us to really help you.

Here is the serial numbers for a Ford 5000:

1965: C100000
1966: C124200
1967: C161300
1968: C190200
1969: C226000
1970: C257600
1971: C292100
1972: C327200
1973: C367300
1974: C405200
1975: C450700
1976: C490300

Could your tractor be a 5000 that was repainted and had the newer decals put on it??? The 6600 replaced the 5000.

where are you getting the serial # from? I think some have different tags for front axle, rear axle, motor, etc. The # for my 7710 is by the radiator cap..dont know if its the same for a 6600.

So what is the entire serial number???? Is it a state secret??? LOL

The reason I am saying this is Ford got sloppier as the tractors got newer. The prefixes are not all ways in the old tried and true format. It really depends on what plant the newer tractors where made in.

A good fried is a Ford dealer, has been for forty years. He says anything newer than 1965 can have different prefixes because of options, the manufacture date, and what plant they where built at. He showed me this years ago. He had four Ford 5610s setting on his lot. They all had the same options. They had different serial number formats. They where built in three different plants.
