No problem finding black modern MFs...seems it is the trendy thing to do!....Black Fendts started this whole craze off. but maybe the real one to start the craze was the original 'Black Tractor' (my last pic) This was Harry Ferguson's prototype built in Belfast, Northern Ireland....The very first tractor ever to be fitted with 3 point linkage...It now resides in The Science Museum in London, England.
If any of you ever get to London and need a 'tractor fix' then check it out!

Hi Sam, nice photos. Question about front mounted 3pt, appears to be very common in UK and probably the EU. When we were in UK in 2009, I saw the front 3pts being used to cut hay, 1 mower on front and 1 on each side on the back. Where as in NA you would just have one large one behind. I realize some of the problems are the narrow roads in UK and equipment must be less than X feet wide.
Followed a big tractor (Ford) with large round baler through a small village with a round-about and I said to my wife, I wonder how he is going to navigate it, well he just drove straight through the round-about.

Do you use a front mounted 3pt for anything but front weights?

Thanks
JimB

The color theme has been very interesting,I really enjoyed it, it kept us all getting along each night, I never knew tractors came in so many different colors,!! Thanks you all ,it really was fun,I think I ran out of colors., There was a lot of great suggestions for a ''feature night'' so we could keep this going,It was not my idea,it was many people on this sites idea,It would be great if we each shared '' feature night " maybe for one week each so everyone who wanted to post a feature night would get a chance. I have said it before and want to say it again, this is a great site!!!!
And as for black night, all I could find is the neighbors old ford truck, which I have posted on here many times before.

Larry,
Case Co. introduced the totally new 70 series tractors in 1970 To promote these new tractors, Case developed the Golden Demonstrator Program. Each case dealer could order a 70 series tractor model suited to his area, to take out and demonstrate to his customers. Each customer demo was documented and with each demonstration, came a discount on that tractor. In 1971 the program was extended with a new paint scheme, which was supposed to be on the 1970 versions. In 1970 Hinson Royal, had developed a ROPS cab which finally met Case specs. The story is there was a comunication glitch between Case and Hinson, and ALL Hinson cabs were shipped to Case painted Desert Sunset, rather than black, for the demonstrators. In 1971 Case was building their own cabs and the 1971 Demonstrators became known as "Black Knights" They sported all black sheat metal with the Case orange bellies, and silver rims. The graphics were bold gold stripes, outlining nthe cab and excentuating the hood. These tractors also were acessorized with a stainless steel muffler, and most dealers als decked them out with chrome mirrors, radios and factory heat and AC. We were Case dealers from 1931 thru 1986. My dad ordered during the two years of the Golden Opertunity Program, 870s. In 1970 I was 23 and very active in the dealership. I was on the road selling Case and pushed the program to the limit with the tractors, and new to this area Shank and rotary tillage practices.
Alternatives to the moldboard plow.
Sure wish I carried a camera then, like I do now.
The first pic is of the toy tractors that came to our dealership with our order for for the program tractors, and the brass tag that was glued to the cowel of our 1970 version. I retrieved it several years later. The next two are late model toys
The last pic is of a 970 that we sold new to a local farmer, and his son repainted it to resemble a 1570 Spirit of 76.

In 1976 Case was introducing it's biggest 2wd tractor, the 1570 and produced a number of limited production Spirits. It has been said that the also producded a very limited number of 1370 spirits also The proceeding pics are of late model toys that I have in my collection.

kruser,, take over "feature night" for a week, then pass it on,you can get it rolling good, how about it? It was everybodys idea,so everybody should have a chance at it ,it will be great

JimB...Some farmers push ploughs on the front linkage...if a tractor will pull 5 furrows it will push 4 furrows also, just have to go a bit slower, but 9 is quicker than 5! When it comes to harvest time seeding we sometimes put a power harrow on the front and the drill behind for a 'one pass' seedbed. I used a 10 foot mower on the front and two 10ft 'butterfly' mowers on the rear.....10ft is our max on the roads. Sometimes we push grass into the silo bunkers with a buck-rake on the front...and of course it is used for the weight block!

Does this qualify for a Spirit of America? Last year when I was visiting your beautiful and vast country, I went for a tour of the Hesston MF plant and saw this mighty fine machine. They had it on a revolving stage in front of some tiered seating(bleachers,I think you call them?) waiting for a group of dealers to see it the following day.
