Tractor people vs Super Bowl fans

Made my usual Friday morning trip to the grocery store. Almost did not go as it was -2.

The store is normally nearly empty on Friday mornings. They are having a "Super Bowl Sale" so I expected a few more people.

The place was packed, I was lucky to get a cart. I wish an all afternoon vintage tractor program would get the public's attention like this.

I guess we are a small group of people.

Small but elite. Any numb skull can live vicariously through athletes. We go out and live life ourselves.

MY sentiments exactly. What go people get out of watching that stuff? They don't do anything themselves but sit in front of the TV and eat and drink more than they should to watch some game that doesn't prove anything. If those games proved anything, they wouldn't have them year after year.

I forget; is that the Stupid Bowl, the Stupor Bowl or just the Toilet Bowl?

Lotsa hype over a overrated game played by overpayed players. Whoopee Ding.

It won't change my life in one iota which team wins and looses, and even if there's no game.
(In other words, I got no money riding on it, and probably won't bother to watch, even for the commercials!)

Old tractor shows are another matter however....

If they like football thats their business some of them think we are silly for liking old tractors this is a free country and to each their own.

Commercial bowl. The media talks more about the commercials than they do the football anyway. A whole new years worth of commercials with some football thrown in between for good measure.

I guess I'm "each". I enjoy watching the Super Bowl, as well as an occasional football game throughout the year. I also enjoy tractor shows. Just don't have any tractor shows in my neck of the woods. Hope to go to Red Power Roundup in 2014 when it is only 150 miles away. I also enjoy a good rodeo, a NASCAR race, a high school music concert, etc. Don't have to enjoy just one thing.

My boy was just saying the other night he was going to record the super bowl so he could fast forward the game to watch the commericals. Sounds like a good idea to me !

you're right , Gene , and as such we can all post our opinions on here whether pro or con. That , in itself , doesn't infringe on anyone elses rights at all. Life is good (could be better, could be a lot worse)

Hey now - remember Super Bowl Sunday is the 2nd biggest food consumption day in the USA. Just thinkin about all those veggies, chip and dip- ribs, burgers, brats, and on and on makes me hungry! Whose playin anyway??

I think I'll turn the tv on in the shop while I work on an old tractor. Probably watch the game and commercials while getting all greasy. How could it get any better. gobble

I dont watch it for the game, I watch the commercials. Especially the Godaddy commercials.

There is a voice of reason, good post.

(quoted from post at 16:28:01 02/01/13) Well it is the 1st day of the month. Most of those that DON'T work got paid today.

Do you actually think the only people who watch the super bowl are welfare/unemployment recipients? Really, do you actually think that? Really?

I agree that it is too bad that you won't find millions of people having parties to watch an afternoon of vintage tractors, however I think its too bad you won't find millions and millions interested in WWII history, or classic cars, or pheasant hunting, or the smell of freshly mowed hay.
The fact is, many people use sports as a way to escape the drudgery and boredom of their paper pushing office jobs, or their otherwise unhappy existence. It's really too bad that our world has gotten so hectic and fast paced that we can't take more time to enjoy the simple things in life. Lucky for us, the simple things we enjoy are much simpler and (in my opinion) much more enjoyable. That being said, it never hurt anyone to be well rounded and enjoy more than one hobby or pastime.
Let them have their day, because come Monday morning, when we all go back to our daily lives, some of us can walk out to the shed, or the field; look at the fruits of our labor, and know that we are the lucky ones!

Super bowl is this weekend?!?!?!?
Gee, I wonder if I can get TV service in my house by then! LOL
I see TV (mostly) as my grandfather called it. An idiot box.
Better things to do with my time.
I would make exceptions for educational shows, televised tractor shows,
and some documentaries, etc. There just weren't enough of them to pay for.
I might consider paying for an honest news channel.
