john deere skid loader

My brother in law has an extra 6675 JD skid loader that im thinking about buying from him. My only concern is that when you are moving it will start jerking back and forth. If you let go of the levers and idle the engine down it will stop then you can throttle it up and go again. He had it to the local JD shop and they said they couldn't find anything. Wondering if anyones had a similar problem.

From my experience that is usually the operator and not the machine.
Make sure you have the throttle all the way up and move the levers all the way forward or all the way back. When you get use to the machine then you can start feathering the controls. Some machines are more sensitive then others, it just takes time to get used to the machine.

Those are a good skid steer. They where made by New Holland. The jerking could very well just be bad steering shocks. They are two one on each direction. If they are bad you will get the jerking back and forth. I had guys ready to trade their off because theirs was doing this. All theirs needed was the shocks replaced.

So get the seat up and check the shocks(#13) and the ball joints (23). These are usually the cause of jerky operation. The shocks are $87.53 each and the ball joints are $37.21 each.

PS The only thing to check out on them is the boom. They where prone to cracking right at the back of the cab.

I have heard that jerky levers is a sign the double u-joint connecting the engine to the hydro pumps needs greasing or replacing. Not sure how the JD is coupled. I'm also not sure if you can see the bucket edge in a 6675 which makes it a lot harder do precise work.

Thanks for the help i'll check the bushings and shocks I' sure there worn it's quit a few hours on it. Just wondering how the 6675 would compare to a 170 new holland. A buddy has one that I usually borrow and I know that is big enough for what I need. Thanks aqain Brian

Specifications on the JD 6675: Lift capacity 1670 Lbs., Horse power 45, Lift height 7.5 ft.

Specifications on the NH 170: Lift capacity 1765 Lbs., Horse power 52, Lift height 11.7 ft.

I think the lift height is off on the JD 6675 specs I found. I have used them to load hay with and did not notice they did not lift very high. So I think the actual lift height is higher on them than the 7.5 ft.
