I am thinking maybe late 20s or early 30 but I bet it was farmer built. Man riding on the left rear is poking the wires in to do the bale ties. Also some home built front wheel set up in front of the engine.

I've poked a few wires in my time. The old folks got mad when I poked the wire on the wrong side of the divider, and tied the devider to the bale, as it came out. As I remember it was very dusty. Stan

That had to be a revolutionary concept at the time. The idea eliminated a whole series of steps in making baled hay. Once again, most of the advances in agriculture have been farmer invented.

Dad bought a Case hand tie wire baler at the end of WWII. A very miserable machine to ride, especially for the guy who rode in the "corner" and tied the wires.

I volunteered to ride the wagon so I didn't have to tie the bales.

Definately a home-made rig.A stationary hay-press with a loose hay loader hooked behind and some boards on the press to funnel the hay in, all pulled by the old Fordson.
