Odd weather

Well it is the last of Jan. and it is around 70 degrees out and windy and then in a few days the weather guesser says it will be back down in the 30s. Hard for a person to get us to this up and down warm then cold then warm again weather

I agree, we had a cold week, last week, below zero some nights, now there saying in the 50s the middle of this week, than back down to the 20s and teens over night! go figure.

It's a sunny 55 deg. here snow on the ground and i'm fixing a tractor tire, took off coat first thing then longsleve shirt still sweating, had to have a cold bevrage, going back to finish.

And here, that usually means high winds as the temperatures swing. You get used to the hard frozen ground, and kind of depend on it for some work you can do in the winter, then you get some crazy warm weather, mud season which was always in the spring, is now on call LOL !

What I really miss is getting a hard freeze and the big pond surface like glass, we have not been able to have our winter "classic" a nice friendly game of hockey, in a few years, weather just changes so much, right now the thickness of ice has to be over 12", I'll bet it's 18", but the surface is too rough, have to pump water onto it, in the cold temps we've had, used to work well, but the weather will have it roughed up shortly after. The location here seems to be on the border of so many weather events, the jet stream can push way up north, a system that may miss you, because its heading east like most do, all of a sudden stalls or turns then you get the longest part of it, or its a miss.

The part I hate is the wind when temperatures change drastically in a short period of time.

We had freezing rain Sunday morning, Rain with highs around 70 today and tuesday thunderstorms and highs in the 70's, Wednesday back in the 30's. I'm in the St. Louis area

Here in south IN we get your weather a day after you do.Supposed to get up to 64 deg here on Tuesday. We call this the January thaw. Then on Friday our high is supposed to be 20, so back down to normal weather. These temp freeze/thaws are good for our fields. Lets some moisture back in the soils. And makes it hard for insects to survive the winter. Did you get your wife's new weapon sighted in. Every store is about out of ammo here. Only placed haven't checked is TSC.

Do you remember when we used to have a January thaw here in the midwest? Can't say that it ever really "froze" this winter as it did in the past. I've tripped over many a frozen cowpie in past winters. They stick to your boots this winter.

Her pistol hits right on target but she on the other hand does not. Going to have to get a laser sight or some such thing so she can hit with it. Odd how she can hit what she wants with a rifle and open sights but not with this pistol. As for ammo yep most places have very little and what they do get in seems to leave about as fast as the get it. Was in Orchenlans the other day and they had 10 or so boxes of 22LR but bet it is gone now

Well.....the day the Challenger exploded (today is the anniversary),they had all that ice and freezing weather in Florida that caused the explosion. It was warmer up here in Michigan at that time than it was in Florida. I was listening to the launch on the radio while I ran the gutter cleaner that morning. Had all the barn doors open,I remember that plain as day.

I think some people are just more sensitive to odd weather extremes these days because the globull warming pushers have made us super sensitive to it by hyping the h3ll out of it every time it freezes or thaws.
It's like that old line "I'll bet you can't stop thinking about the word elephant for the next 30 seconds".

In the low 20's yesterday. Today up to 47, cleaned the chimney and did some roof patching. Tomorrow rain and close to 60, then cold the rest of the week. I can't even pick the right pair of coveralls anymore.

I thought you were from Missouri, Old. I've seen 50 degree temperature swings in less than 24 hours here. Many times, I've used the heat and A/C on the same day.
