My grandpa moved from Minonk to northern Iowa in 1919. Put all his worldly possessions and his new bride on the train and headed West. His niece stills lives on great grandpa's farm. Anywhere close to you?

hear in central Iowa the rain has stoped, it is 31 now. Nut much trafic on highway but looks slussy when someone goes by. Hopfuly it will warm up this afternoon

The ice storm is already here in N.E. Iowa. Took a minor fall walking out to get the paper this morning.
After all of this trouble, same old news, politicians can't get along, etc.

Here at the Lake of the Ozarks MO we have light rain and the temp is 45. Weather guesser is calling for rain the next 3 or 4 days and boy do we need it

Getting it bad here in southern MN. The DOT web site is just lite up with crashes.

We drove out 2 miles, circled around and back home. Couldn't hardly walk, the garage apron couldn't walk into garage, couldn't drive into it with 4wd, just 1/10 inch of ice coating everywhere, temp is 30 degrees, and we are not scheduled to go above freezing at all, get cold again in a day below zero, so this will not go away, will be bad deal.

We fill a pitcher or two with water in case of power outage. Would get the generator ready...except we don't own one.

Fill a couple five gallon buckets with water so you can still flush. If the power goes out and stays out long-term, my husband will grab the Luggable Loo out of our outhouse by his shop.

We also salt the stairs and sidewalk a light layer because it helps prevent the ice from adhering quite so well.

Watched both dogs go running out this morning and slide right off the deck . Pretty surprised look on their faces . Drizzle off and on ,,layed up with flu crap so glad not got to go anywhere .

We were out of power for two hours here in northeast Iowa. Had to get the generator out to milk.
