Fineness of grind is adjusted by cranking the two long bolts in front of the bowl-shaped housing. Hopper is missing. IH used to have a moving bar inside the hopper to stir up the grain, especially ear corn....so it would feed into the machine. Grew up using one, shovel everything in, shovel everything away. The middle pic of the drum shaped piece is the cover for the "burr", two pjates rubbing together, with a pattern to crush kernels. It is fed by the auger like piece that is below the pair of paddles which are made to mangle ear corn into small enough pieces to be crowded into the BURR A very good way to make whole grain more profitable for farm animals. fred [Reply]  [No Email]

The gearing to both is just double geared but reverse. I am thinking just reversed to add strength but I can not see either running faster than the other.
