propane delivery update

I called my local supplier to let them know about their driver not wanting to drive to my home and fill my tank due to tree branches, (so says the driver) Well.....The owner of the company answered the phone. This guy was super pizzed off at the driver and the driver will be getting 5 lbs of his rear end chewed off. I also told the onwer that a competitor 40 miles away filled my tank. The owner was very apologetic about the whole thing and still wants my business. I told him "dont fire the guy" cause I dont want him to come to my house and throw a rock through my front room window.
The owner made the statement that the driver was real @nal about "his" truck looking perfect and he didnt want to scratch it. The owner told me that customers come first. We will see.

Good on ya. I was of the opinion yesterday to just move on to the new company and forget about the old, but communication is really the better way to go.

I didn't see the earlier post, but I would not like to drag any of my trucks, even as old as they are, through overhanging trees! Yes, the branches will scratch the paint and damage the truck. Hope you get it all worked out, but you may need to trim some trees if they are in the way.

(quoted from post at 07:00:39 01/25/13) Who owns the truck? The dealer or the driver?

What about taking pride in your work? I'd rather have a driver that treats the company truck as if it were his own, than one who beats the truck to pieces.

If I were the owner, I'd offer to send a landscape guy out to trim the branches as a compromise.

My coop used to have the drivers own their own truck, collect the bills. Sort of independent contractors. Worked for many decades.

One new driver worked out a way to scam the system, billed folks for more than he delivered.

The coop changed policy real quick, own the trucks, drivers are employees now.

Was a little hard on the other drivers, they had their business set up, all had to change.

I went back and read your first post. I see that you did trim trees between driver 1 and driver 2. Who knows if driver 2 would have done the deed without the tree trimming? I hate cutting up a nice tree, too, but hate scratches all the way down the side of a truck even more...

If the limbs on your trees truly were hanging out enuf to drag on the sides or top of trucks, I guess I have to give some credit to the driver who looks after his Boss's equipment.
I had a lot of big white pines next to my driveway but I cut 5 of them last fall as they were keeping the sun out and causing ice to build up.
However, I always kept them cut way back so they would not interfere with trucks, be it gas, UPS or whatever.
And....I had to keep them trimmed way up as they would really hang down with some snow on them.

Well at least the guy looked out for the truck, I rode wingman with a plow driver, we had an ice storm, and limbs were hanging low enought th hit the truck window, I remember the driver just flying threw the limbs smacking the truck ect. So I rode with another driver in the same situation on day and he would slow right down for the limbs, I told him how the other guy drove, and he said ya he destroys alot of town equipment, he cought the side of one truck, the wing bracket on the scale at the stone quarry, got out and yelled at the scale operator, he told him guys come threw with tractor trailers and don't have any problems! Lol

Just remember, the firetrucks need to get through your driveway too, they're a little bigger than a propane truck.

Did you consider the owner might have just been telling you what you want to hear, especially since you have trimmed the tree's? I think it's more likely the owner will praise the driver for looking out for his expensive truck than wanting to fire him. You need to get over yourself. If your tree's were close enough to scratch the truck, the driver/company has every right to refuse delivery. That's the bottom line and it's not their fault if you freeze!
