tornados in january ?

This was on the 6:00 o clock news tonight. On januery 24 1967 a tornado out break in Iowa, Illinois,Wisconsin and Missouri. Thirteen tornados in Iowa two in lee county with f2 and f3 damage. One in northeast Missouri with f4 damage. Then on the 26th Burlington received 13 inches of snow. Does any one remember that? I never heard the old timers talk about it.

I don"t know about that particular instance but tornado"s in January are entirely possible as long as atmospheric conditions are right.

In storm spotter training they said tornados can happen anytime conditions are right in any season

Here in Sou. Indiana we have had some of our worst Tornados in January.

Just a couple years ago Fort Lost in the Woods here in Missouri got hit by one this time of year. Those that have been there know its real name but many cal it what I just did. I.E. Fort Leonerd Wood
