my friend has a 1975 dodge D20 three quarter ton pickup with a 318 v8 engine in it. the ignition switch was accidently left on for three hours. now he has no ignition. he replaced the coil and resistor, still no spark. it has a module mounted on the fender that appears to be part of the ignition systemj. he says points appear ok. any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.
thank you in advance.

If it has a module on the fender it has electronic ignition so it has no points. You say he replaced the resistor? I have had the resistor go bad and have a no spark condition. I would make sure the resistor is good. It could be the module or it could be the pickup unit in the distributor.

Check the battery voltage and recharge the battery. Those old Dodge trucks with electronic ignition need close to full battery voltage or no spark, like 11+ volts. The starter will still crank the engine over but no spark.

The ignition module on those did not stand up well if you left the ignition on. There is about a 99% chance it is bad. BTDT and learned that that module is a weak link in the system. My 1974 dodge van had pretty much the same system and was bullet proof unless you left it turned on and not running

Dodge did away with points in 72 or 73 so can not be the problem since it is electronic ignition. May even have been before 72 when they switched over

btdt, the 70's dodges ignition modules were almost as faulty as fords, replace that and im betting it will fire right up

Buy a 20 dollar meter and troubleshoot. Could be wire, ignition switch, neutral switch, resistor. Dave
