Seems weird....owner has all this info about it..has it apart..and now wants to sell it....something is rotten in Denmark I would say..just my 2 cents!
 
Well he seems to have run out of time/money to finish the project. If it is as he states then it seems to be a fair price. Not a bargain but not terrible. If you are interested in fixing and keeping it then I would go an look it over real close. The only trouble I can see is the cost to rebuild it right. You can really get some serious money tied up into a crawler.
 
I was thinking about buying an old D7 Cat many years ago, to grub a bunch of stumps on my place. Asked the advice of a local guy who did lots of land clearing, and still remember what he said- "There's nothing as dead as a dead Cat. For the average guy, the bolts are to big to manage, the parts are too heavy to handle, and on and on." I didn't buy it, and am glad I didn't.
