Listed with a 6-speed transmission so I would say indeed rare every one I have been around is only a 5-speed or an occasional 9-speed

Went to look at a ford ranger once, listed as v6 with 5spd. I tried the gears, 4spd, woman said, no its a 5spd. She plunked her big behind on the seat, jammed it through the gears, one, two, three, four, five, its a 5 spd. I said well, you know how to count, but show me where you put that shifter when you want to back up. I didn't buy the truck.

Why would you say that? It's not hard to get ~45HP+ our of an M engine with oversize step-head pistons.

I bought one with good paint, 50% tires, and IH wide front for 1500 last summer.

Wow, 30% increase with just pistons? I wish I could do that with a Ford.
