How do you allow someone access to your email address through a post without making it public?

For some reason I see its become available on my last post but Im not sure how that happened. Need advice/instruction.

I don't see where your email is available. The email link lower right side says "No Email". To change it you go to "Profile" and change the email settings there.

The last to posts I have maid say Send mail at the bottom right, clicking on this seems to allow someone to contact me direct. Some previous posts Ive made dont seem to allow this.

Check the settings in "Options" if you"re in "Classic View" or "Profile" if you"re in "Modern View" to see what the email setting is. I"m seeing "no email" in the lower right.

e-mail address is not actually 'public'. It is in the custody of YT and if someone reading your post wants to contact you directly, they click on "send email" at bottom of your post, send their message to YT, who, knowing your e-mail address, forwards the message to you. No one "sees" your e-mail address, other than YT.
You use "profile" to make "send email" available or not. On your MM705 Split posts, you have one of each, one with "send e-mail" available & the other not available. That is as viewed in Classic view. "Send e-mail" is not showing/available in either when viewed in Modern View.

If you are using Classic View, I believe that if you enter your e-mail address in the box when prepating message to post, then "Send e-mail" will appear with posted message, but if you do not enter it, then it will not appear.

If you post on the Site Comments forum, maybe Chris (of YT) can remove it for you - if you don't want the email link there.

I agree. Email looks unavailable on Bill's post on both Classic & Modern views. As stated Bill will have to enable email and I think one has to accomplish this on each forum.

Some thing must not be working then because his e-mail shows open to me, but as said that doesn't show it to me just alows the forwarding.

I never see anybodies email option. Regardless of Modern or Classic view.

I have mine turned on, and don't see it either.

Bill,

As JMOR said, on classic view, don't enter your email in the email box when you post and the send email link will not appear.

For those posts where you have done this, I can block all email to your email right away if you like if it's giving you unwanted emails. Just drop me an email at support at ytmag.com indicating that.

Your modern view setting to "Show Email" is off, I just checked that. What that means is the only way you can get the "Send Email" link to appear, is to type the email in on the post.

You should be good to go as long as you don't enter the email on each post.

I'm glad you guys can see it but I don't see anybodies, in either view.
