UPDATE: New behavior for my tractor

Well... Who ever guessed that all the extra black smoke my tractor was putting out the exhaust was because the air intake was blocked, please take a bow; you were correct. Looked like a leaf got sucked in and then just got coated with more and more little crap until it completely blocked the intake. Removed and cleaned all components of the air filter and the tractor runs like it did when I first got it. Thanks everybody for their input on this problem. 8) I'll try to not let it get that bad next time... :roll:

Glad you got it fixed and a good lesson always check the simple/cheap fixes first before moving to the more complicated/expensive ones.

Thanks for posting the fix, quite often people look for help and get it then never post back with any results. One recent thread comes to mind, the one about a coolant leak on a Ford Taurus.
