ot growing a tooth at 51???

Ok farmers had a tooth first molar behind inscirror hurt for years had it pulled in October. Now I'm cutting a tooth there almost 51 years old never heard of such a thing am I mutated or what??? All of my baby teeth were pulled in 1975. Strong teeth with long roots run in the family - thoughts???

What you have is called a supernumerary tooth, in other words, an extra tooth. Evidently when the first tooth was pulled, the extra tooth had been under it and began to naturally erupt.
That is a fairly common thing. One of my dad"s friends had a new tooth after he had worn dentures for years. Turned out that it was a wisdom tooth that finally erupted.

Yeah upward pressure on it when chewing would hit a nerve then it started aching all the time. Dentist thought tooth looked healthy but agreed at my age could have a bad nerve. Pulled it at my request but gum has never healed right, sensitive and often throbs. Now know why I'm just flabbergasted.

Sorry to say but they are pretty much unheard of.
Most are erupting wisdom teeth or extra teeth.
A few very rare developmental disorders feature multiple extra teeth or "supernumerarys" but if you had one of these disorders, you would definitely know about it.
Sorry, but 32 are all you have. Avoid the sweet soft drinks and chewing tobacco and look after them.
In over 30 years of experience, I have found that most denture wearers wish they had good natural teeth, although I have also seen people that had such horrible and painful experiences with their natural teeth that dentures were a great improvement over what they had.

Whoo, who's your dentist? Marilyn's new tooth cost twice that much. Her dentist's country club dues must have been steep. LOL Jim

My 21 year old daughter as part of her braces strategy had her wisdom teeth plus a couple more pulled. The braces pulled the rest of them around and everything was great except she had a pain in her jaw. A year or so ago a new wisdom tooth showed up on a dental check up x ray. Those teeth must have been pulled close to 10 years ago.

My Automotive mechanics teacher back in the 80s grew a whole third set of teeth.
He was in a pretty bad car accident back just before WWII and all his adult teeth were knocked out.
But then he grew a whole new set. He was about 60 at the time and the third set looked perfectly healthy.

Well I've been thankful for healthy teeth and take pretty good care of them but this stupid thing hurt so I had it pulled. If felt better then way worse I have been sucking on aspirin to numb it

Well, I gotta chime in here too. I grew up drinking pure cow's milk, straight from the cow so I got plenty of calcium, Ate all my veggies, (sometimes that's all we had), and got very few sodas. I had lower partials by the time I was 21. One day my gum felt sore and a few days later something came poking through, wasn't able to wear my dentures so called dentist. He x-rayed it and says, "you have a couple of "buds" trying to grow but they will not be good teeth. Had to cut them out, and never had anymore problems. So, no todd, you aren't any freak of nature or anything, as they say, "--it happens"

Be thankful.

Some people have an undeveloped twin inside them and at a certain age the twin starts to grow and mature. Now that would be scarey.
