Lost another one about two weeks ago

We lost another excellent person about two weeks ago, his name was Ted Blagrave. He was a retired Diesel and Heave Equipment instructor from a local community college. It is no telling how many young people with soft skills in subjects like English and History Ted focused on careers in Engine and Heavy Equipment repair/rebuild. Most of his former students are now in good paying jobs rather than living off the Government or low paying jobs.
Ted was also a collector, even had a John Deere hit and miss engine, various other engines, firearms, etc.

I took shop in HS and I just earned my BA in Political Science and History. Analytical skills learned and earned by those who have abundant art degree rival that of engineers. I also and many of my friends don't live off the government rolls.

Please refrain from generalizations - History and the arts are important gauges of understanding how great a society is.

I believe he was saying those that had little to no interest in a abundant arts education were given another opportunity by having an education in mechanics. I don't think any offense was meant in his comments, and I know none was taken by me. (A person with a BA+ degree and employed in a white collar profession for the last 12 years.) abundant arts educations are good, but we still need educated and willing workers in the blue collar professions too. Actually, that is the area that is suffering most. Most people today want the high paying jobs with the least amount of physical labor, and if they are not educated or motivated enough for those jobs, many often say to themselves "if I can't make x amount of money per hour, I'm not working at all". An instructor who guides people to become productive members of our society in any profession is a true asset to our nation.

I had Ted as an instructor in college. Great guy and learned a ton from him. Its's been 15 years since I heard his name, makes me sad to hear of his passing. Still have the good memories and can remember him rebuilding and riding his Harley wearing a hat with fake hair out the back.

It just amazes me that someone can find something negative in a eulogy!

Very sorry to hear of his passing...

It is TOO Bad that those who WILL NOT Work do not GO HUNGRY..(they get un-employment extensions)..

I did not take the gentleman's remarks to be disparaging in any way. I interpreted them to mean that not everyone is able to comprehend certain subjects to the same depth as others. (And not everyone cares to enter into the same field.) Before taking umbrage at someone's remarks, take time to carefully analyze what is said.
