tractor tire opinons

I'm going to put a new pair of 18.4 38's on my 1135 MF. Local guy is selling Sampson, American Farmer or Firestone's, all radials. I use the tractor for all my tillage, some swathing and all of my baling. Anybody have experience with any of these tires? Opinions?

I don't know if Firestone fixed their flaw or not,but I had an 18.4 38 Radial on my 2-135 split and blow out right at the bead. When I called the tire repair guy and told him what happened,he said "it's a Firestone isn't it?" Said they were famous for that.

Go with the STONES as we have them on the 1066 and it is the tillage tractor . The only problem we had was that they do get ahold of the ground and the 1066 is wound for sound and something had to give And we spin the rims inside the tire twice , Not just one tire but both each time . SOOOOO we welded little beads across the pims so the bead would get ahold of the rim. since we did that we have not spun the rims in the tires when we are running the deep till chisel /ripper . The old DMI block man told us that there was no way a 1066 would pull five 7 1/2 inch tiger points at 14 -16 inches deep , yep we can we have the traction and have the pony power . My 806 is getting a new set of Stones this year .

I heard back from the tire man, Sampson's and American Farmer's weren't radials. He named off a couple other brands he could get radials in that I hadn't heard of that were about 200 bucks a piece cheaper than the Firestone's. I ordered Firestone All traction 23'.

I had a brand new 11.00x16 blow out on my 4240 a couple of years ago while I was planting. Firestone dealer wouldn't honor any warranty on a tire that didn't have 100 hours on it. The whole sidewall split out, about 6" long. It'll be the last Firestone front that I own. And the dealer won't ever see me darken his door again...

Best tyres I have used to date have been BKT radials. We do a lot of
road haulage and they just last and last. The only tyres I think that
are better are Michellin radials.
But then maybe you guys get different tyres from what we have
in Europe?
Sam

BKT radials were one of the options, I hadn't heard of them and the cost difference between them and the Firestone's wasn't much. The deals done now, we'll see how these work out. I put new firestone 11:00 16 quad rib fronts on last summer so with the cost being close I stuck with the stones.

My neighbor swears by the BKT radials, obscene hours out of them, many of which are on the road as they have some rental ground spread over a pretty wide area.

I have been buying their bias ply tires as a budget tire choice. Very happy with them.

Nothing wrong with a 23 degree Firestone though.

Glad to hear some input on the bkt's, I need a 15.5 38 on my loader tractor. I'll probably give a bkt bias ply a shot.
