Hydraulic PTO pump size

Ed that gets to be a quite tricky question. The little tractor develops about 17 PTO HP. You could probably run a 25 gallon pump IF there was no work to be done . I guess what I am saying is I need more information as to required flow and pressure required. Small pumps can achieve high pressure but larger pumps achieve more flow. I know I have sold the BX 2200 to customers that run a 12 gpm pump 100% of the operating time but again that pump was only operating a hydraulic motor not a cylinder or something requiring high pressure. Tell me what it is you want to do.

Depends on pressure as much as volume.
What is the application?
Do you know the tractor"s pto HP ?
Do you want to lug the tractor to it"s max continuous output or leave a reserve for reliability?
Flywheel HP is 22 and pto barely 17HP.

I think the formula to use is this: Input Hp= GPMxPSIx0.0007 Example: 10 GPM x 2000 PSI x 0.0007 = 14 HP

Depends on what your going to power with it. If a loader going to high with the GPM can/will flip a tractor over of bury the guy on the seat with what ever is in the bucket so to answer that we need more info. Unless you want to hurt your self or others
