Duck Dynasty

I just turned on the TV and Duck Dynasty was on. I'm not a huge fan even though I'm a southerner. I have a hard time believing that the northen half of this country find this show anything other than silly.

Just pondering the demographics of this country for A&E.

Does anyone actually watch it?

I'm proud of the guys on the show for minding their manners and language but it's a little too staged to be very entertaining.

I also have to ponder... Why has there never been a show with a tractor?

I have watched it a time or two and find it downright stupid.

It is so staged. Three or four of those goobers in a room like they are supposed to "manufacturing" duck calls, yeah right.

I am sure that is how they got their start, but it isn't them doing the work now a days.

I wont watch it any more.

its kinda silly kinda stupid BUT its still much better than all the killing raping bs thats on tv nowdays moutain man is from portland tn

Im from up north and we love it.. lots of people up this way watch it.. we know its mostly fake and scripted but its still funny as he!!better than most shows

I watch it - find it funny as can be - even though it is scripted. And I can always use more laughter in my life!

Actually "Green Acres" had a couple. There was a modified Fordson that they called a Hoyt-Clagwell, and a John Deere GP at the opening scene.

Of course it can't be done up here but a tractor show just as good is already made down on the Talers board, all we need is a couple cameras and a rich sponser.

I watch it with my sons. They enjoy it and I don't have to worry to much about the content as opposed to regular tv these days.

Kind of fun watching rich scripted rednecks.

I don't take anything on TV seriously, I don't even have one. Reality is weird enough for me without watching someone else's.

I know it is scripted. But Come-on guys I can relate to Si and Phil. Phil is the pastor of their local church. and at least the 3 older boys are Elders or deacons. Also Si is married.

I don't make an effort to watch it everytime its on but if I am going through the channels and its on I'll probably stop and watch it. Its one of the cleaner shows on TV now. That is what I like about it. I know its staged but o well. Its not like there is much else on tv worth watching.

Much agreed. They do keep it clean. I'd say you could turn the kids loose on an afternoon of reruns and feel safe about what was going into their eyes and ears.

I think they mind their manners for religious reasons. I did a little research just now to find that they are of the same religious affiliation as myself. From all appearances they are Godly people. Thats a quaility you dont find on the tube very often these days. It seems as if one of the sons participates in public speaking engagements at Christian colleges.

Nice folks I'm sure but I'm still think the show is a little too staged, although Si can be somewhat funny :)

I got the 1st season on a CD set from my daughter for Christmas, we don't have cable so I never heard of it, the computer is my entertainment. I'm about half way through it, I don't watch much box, I think it's very entertaining, kind of silly. but clean and there's a story, not complete garbage like on regular tv. I give it a thumbs up!!

tHE DAD PHIL Played ahead of of the 4 time Super Bowl guy from Pittsburgh--when they were in college.

Let's see... It's funny, the characters are clean, honest, honorable, and family oriented. They represent what people can do with hard work, ambition, a good education, and a well thought out business plan. All the principal characters, with the exception of Uncle Si have college educations. They spend quality time with their children. They hunt, fish, and spend time in the great outdoors. There's nothing phony about 'em, even if the show is scripted. They give back more to the local economy than they take. They spend time involved with church and civic organizations. They respect those who served in the military. THey respect women, old folks, and kids. And they seem to be very approachable, down to earth, good honest people. Their success story is real, even if the shows themselves are a bit corny and hammed up.

Wow. No wonder the show is so popular. They invented an entirely new novel concept in modern TV entertainment.

Oh yeah...There has been a couple shows where they were on tractors. A compact John Deere and a mid sized JD utility w/loader. What else would folks who can have the best of everything be driving!!!!

Before Gunsmoke was a tv show it was a radio show with William Conrad {From the Cannon tv series} and Howard McNear {From the Andy Griffith Show}
You can listen to the Gunsmoke radio shows online.

It's a good show if you like fake reality shows.
Do the words fake and reality belong together in a sentence???

Now me, I like SpongeBob.

A friend turned me on to the show. I don't get to watch very often, but I find it hilarious. I'm still trying to figure out how those rednecks wound up with those wives- If it's the beard, I'm gonna grow me one! LOL! -Andy

Where else are ya gonna hear quotes like "Roadkill is a redneck paycheck". I think the show is hilarious...and they have dinner together and pray at the end of every show. Nope, not stupid to me. We just got used to so much trash on TV, we forgot what family fun was.

I started buying Phils duck calls a long, long time ago. He's built a good, solid American business through hard work, smarts and quality. The show is scripted and I'm not much on the head wraps and such, but the language is clean and the people seem pretty real. There are still plenty of us up north that answer with a "Yes sir" when addressed. I can relate.

(quoted from post at 08:55:59 01/16/13) Can not tolerate those scripted dumb a$$ behaviours that are supposed to be entertaining.

AW come on b&d the millionaires used a JD MFWD to aid in the installation of a RV duck blind.

Scripted or not, the kids respect their elders, the men respect women and the food is good. What's not to like?

MO, I agree with you, DD beats a lot of what passes for entertainment today. In answer to your question. In my opinion, there's nothing not to like about the show but I'm just a dumb old country feller, not a TV critic.

MY wife can"t get enough of it.I pointed out that her family came from 100 miles from there so now she tries to watch without me knowing.Parts of it are scripted or at least coached in my opinion.Good clean entertainment featuring people with values and morals. We need more.
