O/T Farm Toys

Are the new (and old) farm toys selling like they use to 10-15yrs ago or is that market like the rest of the economy?

Top quality original toys are still doing well but average and repaints not very high. Many collecter editions from 10-15 years ago bring less today than they cost new then.High quality custom and scratch built toys are selling very good.

From what I have been seeing the older toys from the 60's and back are mostly holding their own. The newer ones have dropped off, mainly because of the vast numbers produced. There just doesn't seem to be the interest either, that there was 4-5 years ago.

My thought is, I haven't seen anything new or "exciting" for a long while. I wish there was a 1/16 threshing machine to go with the Case steamer that came out about 10 years ago- and I'd love to have a precision MM Vista.

In the mid 90's i restored pedal tractors, kept all of mine when others where selling high. When i was tired of them and tried to sell i found prices had dropped a lot.

Pete,
What happened? did you add some extra pounds/euros, so they were harder to "pedal", and thus lost intrest$. Puns intended ; You have just been busted HeHe.

Yes that's what I thought too, lack of interest. Not that those who farm or grew up on a farm but those of us that did grow up on a farm are getting few in-between.

In my opinion the older toys like from 1985 and back are keeping their value. From 1986 forward it seems there are a few models that still bring good money but for the most part are just over priced and not moving a lot. I've bought a few that were priced on up there for almost half price on some clearence pages. Ertl Co. has gone down in quality since it was sold a few years ago. That hasn't helped anything I'm sure. Custom stuff still brings big money no matter the size. Just my 2 cents worth.

The detail can be mostly really good, but errors in assembly or scale just mess up so many costly models on sale these days. I used to buy 5 or 6 a year, now maybe 1 if it's some model I really want. I can usually correct the mistake made and satisfy myself. I "just hate it" that so many are made in China.
