I bought a tyrex yesterday and was looking for a gun rack for it. What's better, floor mount, rear cage mount, etc .What do you guys run on them?
 
ive seen both floor and cage mounts, but what would worry me more than the mount type is what type of gun your going to put in it, no matter what type of mounting, those vehicles vibrate like crazy, a gun like say a .30.30 lever action with the iron sights would probably ride just fine, but a nice high dollar scoped bolt action hunting rifle would worry me, you know after a few miles on that thing the scope is going to be off
 
my uncle has a street and trail bike that he rides everywhere, he has a gun case like your talking about mounted to his bike, he hauls all his guns that he shoots to and from the local sportsmans range, granted he's not off roading with it but the bumps and jars of the back country roads he travels on im sure is some of the jars it would get off road also.

I can not agree with you on this but a question first. Do or have you ever rode a true trail bike on a true trail?? If you have not then I will explain it this way since I have many miles doing so. You do jumps over logs up and down hills and many times if much of a rode you will be air born and come down hard and that thump is in fact a bigger thump then the common recoil of the rifle being shot. Not to cause an augment just to let you know what I believe to be true since I have done a lot of trail riding and would never try to carry a scoped rifle on a trial ride
 
Old, while what you say was true years ago they have made improvements in modren scopes. Daughters fater in law carries a scoped rifle on his 4X4 all them time. But all of his scopes are fairly new, say none older than about 10 years old. This is a guy who will take 600 yrd shots at deer and hit em.
