Okay-So I am now 63 and I am wondering about why I do things and why I have done things a certain way. Thought I might get back to collecting tractors, but now I have 4 additions and I don't know what to do with them, nor why I bought them.
No one wants to buy them, I don't need them and if I did sell them I probably couldn't get my investment back.

What is the point of it all? Can't hang out at the bar, to old to chase women and to unsociable[sp] to become a politician. The Golden Years!

Go to a local tractor club meeting or show and find a young man or woman who is really interested in old tractors and equipment and take them under your wing.
Guaradamnteed it will be worth you time and effort

I like tractors a lot but I probably wouldn't have any except that I need them to get work done. Therefore I end up spending time driving them and repairing them. If I didn't have a use for them I don't think I would put nearly so much time into them.

Just like the farmer that was buying hay at $2 a bale and selling it for $1.75 a bale. Figured the only way he could make money was to buy a bigger truck.

MIght as well collect old iron. Pretty generally spealing, a better class of people, too.....

I'm coming up on 79. I have more that 20 (some are show ready)and I work on them most every day.
Securing parts and friendships with like minded
collectors make life enjoyable.

Gotta have something to occupy your time. Though from the tone of your post you may be losing intrest. Hobby's are important if your not working any more. Don't think it matters much what it is long as it keep you intrested and keeps you going. Why worry about what those tractors are worth to some one else, more inportant what there worth to you. If it's not tractors any more better find something else. Worse thing a person can do is sit around doing nothing specialy if you been a worky all your life. Coarse there are some who have been practicing sitting on their ars all their lifes so they don't have that problem when they get older. Not sure but don't sound like you. Good luck and cheer up, least you woke up this morning. Rocko.

Got that right. I was just thinking about that very thing while I was hauling manure. The legal drinking age was 18 when I was,and I hung out at the bar a mile from home like a lot of other folks my age did. Of course there were always a few pitiful old farts hanging out there being a nuisance too. Now there are still a few old coots who hang out there and bother the young folks, except now the old coots are my age.

It is all about the kind of people you like to hang around with. This stage in my life I like tractor people.

Get yourself a cutting torch, a stick welder, and a big pile of scrap iron. Make yard art and sell it.

Torn down, know what parts I need, now I am just waiting for them to come in the mail. I got one axle housing off and cleaned out and back on, will do the other one and clean out the rear end/transmission housing over the weekend.

I'm only 26 and my hair is already packing its bags and going wherever hair goes. Sounds like you're doing pretty well all around.

same problem here, ive got enough projects to last me my entire liftime and then some, but i alway seem to carry home something from a auction somewhere i just "might" need. i have been making a real effort though here lately to keep from buying junk. mostly ive been limiting myself to gold and silver stuff, figure the kids can have it when i'm gone if nothing else.

A hobby is good for almost everyone, supposedly makes you live longer and be more content.

I've really cut back on the amount of time that I spend woodworking - but I'm still buying tools! I buy new ones and send my old ones to my nephew on the farm. Don't need new tools, but still buying them anyway.

I feel for ya. I have 4 radial arm saws, 6 table saws,(all craftsman except the one my Dad had, it is a rockwell), 10 inch and There are two more right now on craigslist for my county that I would love to go buy because they are priced less than 100$. Sometimes I have to close my eyes. If I had room for them I'd likely get them. plus being able to hide them from my Mrs.

Seems I always go overboard. But is 13 white mountain ice cream freezer's enough?

Are you kidding? The older I get the more things I seem to find to do,every year I say I'm going to cut back especially the number of cattle but every year there seems to be more of them.Just bought another tractor the other day to run the spare round baler,I'm a sucker for equipment.I have several dozen projects I need to get to work on,hope I never run out of things to do
it'd kill me.

"But is 13 white mountain ice cream freezer"s enough?"

I suggest you don"t get into boating, especially with outboards. I"ve found the seven motors is more than a person needs...

That very true, not sure fixing up old tractors fits into that catagory. I seem to be able to put about 10k into one thats worth 3k when it's done if I ain't real carefull about it. LOL. Rocko.
