The people that ripped me off on my building are in jail for embezzlement and fraud. The man is in the minnesota state pen and the woman out on $50,000 bail. I think there are 3 or 4 states waiting to press more charges and the feds too! News link on keloland.com

I'll give the short version. I bought a building from the people mentioned and they didn't complete it and it was crooked and leaning, a few inches to short. Overall poor craftsmanship. They skipped out on me and I posted on forums about what happened to me and started getting calls from others who had the same or worse experiences.I had calls from attorney generals office, law enforcement wanting info on them. I didn't want anyone to go through what I did. A local builder came in and finished mine and fixed all the bad stuff. I'm sure it wouldn't last long if the thing was finished by them. I've been told folks being took for as little as $16,000 up to $96,000.

I bet you're right they get off easy. The man has done this 15 years ago and just ran from the charges but got greedy and returned to the state he was convicted in.

Was this scam only in the Dakota's? My brother's neighbor got taken in Central Iowa. I think they got the poles or at least some of them in the ground and then disappeared.
