Somewhere west of Evansville Ind. little town up state hwy 66. I need to load a combine that is over width . If I come back to Evansville and get out south to Henderson KY on 41. Am I going to cross any Ind. scales?

That is about what I thought. Will be O.K. in KY.
We are just not apportioned in Ind. Could get a permit but was just trying to save the bucks.

Just last week I had an over width combine delivered to Mn. from Ia. Trucker said the permit cost him $15. So if you save some money---it won't be much.

There is scales just south of Evansville. They are in Kentucky. When I was hauling through there they didn't open till 7:30. If I was hauling it I would go west on 64 to the 130 mile marker, and go south till I crossed the river at Shawnee Town. There is some good blacktop roads from Carmi South. Vic

Indiana does NOT require an oversize permit for farm equipment provided you are NOT on the interstate. You must still sign and flag, however.

Vic .. Been a long time since I came out of there with anything but that is really the answer I was wanting. I think that is my best bet. That way I more than likely won,t have to mess with Ind or Ky. I am legal all the way in Ky. but they always try and find something, I think they hate Tennessee truckers. Fuel/trip and widel load in Ind. little over $140.00 bucks.

we hauled a gleaner f both heads on a semi with drop trailer , left elizabeth , indiana at noon ,i lead with pikup,, went thru brandenburg ,past ft knox and was at loretto ky in about 2 hrs,.. 90 miles,, cops did not pay any mind to us ,,

How wide is the combine? Don't take a detour off the main road unless you've scouted it out. We got into some hairy situations hauling combines on backroads when I was on the harvest, like leaving black tire marks on both bridge railings going through a narrow bridge. Or running into a little one-day road fix project that narrows down to 10 feet, or finding a low overpass, or hung up on railroad tracks, or.... BTDT! Jim
