I took to fixing the wifes beater 01 nissan sentra today. Have to replace the precat converter. It threw a code awhile back for a badconverter. Sure enough when i got it off the insides were bad. So back to my question i looked on rock auto their cost is around 350. Anybody have any other sites that i could check?
Our area just got emissions laws so they now check the cars puter for codes now, yeah.

Thanks for the tips. Unfortunately i checked and her car will have to pass but with the receipt for doing this fix i can get a waiver. Got 130k on it now and she hauls feed, hay and all kinds of stuff in it. Its pretty beat up but still keeps going.

Check the emission laws your car may be to old to comply, also in most states if the cost is over a certain amount you don't have to do the work.

I will give you that it has been ten years, but I was paying $25.00 a piece for 2 stage universal convertors, and $35.00 for 3 stage. Find an independent muffler shop in you area.
