What is a mag needle?

Is this person confused or is there such a thing as a mag needle? I have never been around John Deere much so I don't know if they are different than what I am used to.

Magento! Ive seen some pretty strange ways to spell magneto over the years, usually from family of person who owned the tractor before he/she passed aay, and those who just think they are saying things corretly, and those listing tractors for someone else.
