Online only auction

What does the forum think of an online only auction of a large tractor and equipment collection with view of the seller? And the buyer?

As a buyer, I'm not likely to buy if I can't hear it run and see it clearly.
Most often that would mean in person for me.
As a seller, I like to talk to the person buying so I can answer any questions directly.
I've nothing to hide and I would be willing to prove it to the buyer.
To me the best part of online auctions is from the seller's point of view
because of the ability to reach a lot more potential buyers.

If you have regular and INTERNET bidding then you have the best of both worlds. If it is rare you can have that guy from another country bid on the item.

The online only auctions are for the birds. I never bid on machinery on them. If you want to sell things that way just put them on Ebay. You are doing the same thing.

So I think that Internet only auctions will hurt the seller in that he will receive fewer bids.

I've bought on both. Big time auction company here in Michigan both times. I sat through one of their onsite/online farm auctions Saturday, was all logged in to bid on an Oliver 550 if it went cheap. Didn't get it.
