Have a cracked wheel casting on a H Farmall.Input on what rods an preperation do I need to repair? Thanks in Advance:

I would think there are plenty of good ones around reasonable. Have you put an ad up in the classifieds ? maybe a fellow yt'er will have some to sell cheap.

Dpnt even THINK about welding unless you have the proper equipment or knowledge/experience.By your question its obvious you do not.Buy another wheel. They are plentyful and reasonable in cost.

Live about 4 hrs east of JP Tractor Parts went there a few years ago. Got a fast hitch for Super C.Don't have any local used dealers close.

Do not know where JPs is so that is no help to me. I live at the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. I have 4 Hs on the place 3 run or should I say can be made to run easy and the 4th is a parts tractor

For all that's likey to cost... replace it. It's not like there aren't any around.
If you're just that determined that you have to fix it... bevel it out and braze it with the largest rods you can find.
Welding that would not be easy. If you had the ability to get the whole thing up to 500 degrees or so you could probably weld it OK with a Sodel 35 rod... but it might also just crack again when it cools. Brazing is less likely to cause cracking.

Probably worth the 4 hour drive to JP Tractor.

Wheel centers are some of the last parts to get sold off parts tractors, so they are usually pretty inexpensive.

You didn't give us enough info to give good advice here. It could be fixable depending on where it's broke and how you broke it. Also is it a front or rear hub. A different one is certainly the best way to go, but if you don't like that option you may be able to fix yours, but it will be expensive either way. Post a pic of it and an explaination on how it got broke and I may be able to help you.

All these other posts sure are helpful????

I myself would use nickel rod. I does not matter what kind of casting material they used, it should hold fairly well even by a novice. The only way to make it better is to reinforce with some mild steel if that is possible in this situation.

If the cast is good enough to hold a magnet, I have even fixed some with the wire feed.

Don't be deterred. The worst thing that can happen is it will still be broke.
