Still eating turnips from the garden, just took these out of the fridge. Lots of people tell me a garden doesnt pay,it might not in dollars and cents, but a lady that I give vegetables to in the summer, just brought a a great big tray of homemade cookies,.!!

Neighbors started some LATE broccoli and cabbage. Got some of the first broccoli this week and it is wonderful. No bugs, no worms, no pestisides, nothing but rainwater on this stuff. Cabbage should start giving up some small heads soon.

Lots of potatoes and onions in the root cellar, and a bazillion jars of tomatoes, pickles, relishes, and packages of frozen broccoli, beans, corn, asparagus in the freezer. Garden lasts for a long, long time.

Larry, we're still eating roasted tomatoes and corn from this summer's crop. Nothing better unless you follow it with cookies!

Larry, we are still using turnips straight out of our garden...we have blanched the early type back when we had an abundance of greens to use later in the season....probably in early springtime when we have the maincrop used up. The frost really sweetens them. I also have a polytunnel and we have carrots in there for winter use. My Mrs reckons our garden provides about £2000 worth of veggies and potatoes a year...£40/week approx...So for us our hobby pays!

Nothing against turnips, but if I could find a lady who would give me cookies in exchange for turnips, I'd think I'd died and gone to heaven.
