Speaking of bad days.

Couple days ago my sister asked for the old left over insolation in the attic,so it could be used in another house. There's only one light up there and not all of the floor has plywood on it.So with me walking into my shadow i missed stepping on a verticle 2/6 and put my foot through the ceiling below.Pushed down a big piece of sheetrock and broke it too.Everyone else was still sleeping,so i get the stuff down and find some old naills plus hammer.I had to move a bunk of stuff, but managed to put the sheetrock back up without fixing the beraks and cracks. So far no one seems to have noticed.

It isn"t much fun - either the step-thru or the repairing. Don"t ask me how I know! I did that at my son"s house a few years ago. The daughter-in-law didn"t ask if I was injured - just complained about all the sheetrock dust on her new black dress that she had just hung up in the room below.

Haven't stepped through a ceiling but I did step through a hay rack going wide open down the road behind a tractor. I was down to my crotch with my foot dragging on the road and the tractor driver wasn't looking back. Finally got myself pulled out and sat on the rack nursing the skinned shin. Driver never knew anything happened till we got to the field and I cussed him out for not paying attention to what was happening behind him. Jim

The old IH dealership building was like that up stairs. If you stepped off the runway it was just s heet rock. Boss hired a guy to do some odds and ends. Sends him up stairs, says, be careful, don't step off walkway. I was working down below on a truck transmission. The guy comes down right over my head. I jumped aside, he missed the transmission. Was a little shook up, boss had him checked out at hosp and fired him. Why he didn't get killed was a miracle. Boss said, he never knew I could holler like that when I yelled to him to come help.

Just wondering here... Why would the insulation in the attic be left over? Isnt it being used th insulate the current house that its in? Wouldnt it be better to buy new insulation for her house then both houses would have it? Maybe im not understanding your post?

Back in the seventies, woking as a repairman for Ma Bell, we quite often had to go into attics chasing wiring troubles. One of my cohorts had put his big foot through a ceiling, and the company had to investigate it and have the damage repaired. The boss was looking at the damage, and the lady of the house was with him.,,She told the boss that she "really felt sorry for the guy". When the boss asked her why, she said she heard the ceiling give, and walked into the bedroom to look up into the hole to see Mike's eyes and teeth (he was a big black guy) as he exclaimed, "G_dd_m, boss is gonna kill me shonuff now.....". The lady asked the boss, "You wouldn't REALLY do that, would you??"

One time I was in our attic doing wiring up grades, duckwalking, cramping up in the legs. Well, I missed a joist and put my foot thru the ceiling. I was mad as hell(more extra work) and my wife was in living room below laughing, which made me madder. Since I am no good with drywall I can still see my repairs. Oh well.(ps I just showed this reply to her and she is still laughing 18 yrs later hmph). Mark
