ot, but do have a few tractors. 2010 ford fusion, low air pressure icon stays on. pressure in all 4 tires is correct including spare. do these sensors go bad or what? merry christmas to all and especially our service people.

There's probably a reset procedure for when you add air. Our Jeep's light goes off automatically but yours must not. Bet it says inmanual

I have an 06 Chevy Impala LT and it has the low air pressure icon and it also tells which tire is low and mine comes on if over inflated. Yes they can go bad.

My Ford has those sensors. They are very sensative with only about 3 pounds variation befor the alarm shows. Check the pressures to see if they are at the manuals pressures. Those &*&^^*& computers won't let you get by with anything.

New ones have sensors inside the tire/wheel assy. The older ones used the wheel rotational difference to determine which tire/wheel assy. was low on air. They used the same reluctor/sensor that was used for the antiskid braking to measure wheel rotation. I don't know which one you have in your 2010 but the rotational sensor is reset by driving the car for a certain period of time at 40PH or higher. The sensor in the tire is automatically reset when you bring the tire pressure up to spec.

ih10020,

I have a 2001 Ford Windstar van. There's a push-button reset on the lower left part of the dashboard next to the steering column that you have to push to reset the low tire pressure light.

Wife's Honda CRV has the low air sensor in the tire, when the tire replaced the tire they cracked the unit and took a few days for the dampness in the tire to work its way into the sensor. They replaced it free of charge, but we wound up at the dealer's to get the code reset. The TPMS light kept coming on.

Does it flash when you turn the key on and then stay on steady or is it just on steady all the time ? If it flashes it has a bad sensor. If on steady all the time make sure air pressure is at least what spec is on VIN tag on drivers door and drive it over 20 mph for a few blocks and it should go off.If not you probably need to see your dealer.

My 2006 Nissan Frontier has one and I wanted to kill it. Tire pressure was fine in all tires and light was solid on all the time. Put black tape over it for a while. When I had new tires put on I told the tech I thought it has a bad wheel sensor. He checked them and they were all good :-(. I went looking on the internet and found the strangest manual reset I have ever heard to re-establish communication. I had to put the LF tire at 32 psi, the RF tire at 30 psi, the LR tire at 28 psi and the RR tire at 26 psi. THEN I had to turn the Key on/Engine off and ground the white TPS wire 6 times in 10 sec THEN I had to start the engine and drive till the light went off. THEN the light would come back on (because the tire pressure was low). I THEN had to fill all the tires to the correct pressure (35psi) and THEN drive around until the light went off. CRAZY! (but it worked!).
What in the wide wide world of sports were they thinking when they thought of that reset.

I can tell you with certainty that they go bad when you forget about them and fill a tire with green slime!

My work pickup (2008 Dodge) has them. Passenger side front tire valve broke off. Checked with the dealer to see if they had a replacement. Replacement cost was $75. for the sensor and $100 to install and calibrate it. I haven't had a problem checking tire pressure before (it really isn't a difficult process) so I took it to the tire shop and just had them put an old fashioned valve stem in it.

Have them on both an 08 Tahoe and 09 Silverado.

Seems like about every 3 to 4 days I'm dragging the air compressor around to get the to go off!
