Statler Brothers - Daddy Just Whose Birthday is Christmas

Thanks for the post and link.

While you're there, go down the right hand sidebar and watch "Mary Did You Know" by the Bill Gaither group. We had a woman in our church choir who used to do that every year, with choir back-up. Never a dry eye in the house by the time she was finished.

Oh, and SweetFeet- if you're wondering what to get me for Christmas, if you could talk the guy out of the instrument panel on that Moline 4 Star you posted awhile back, I'd send you a tasty fruitcake by return post.

I've long loved the Statler Brothers. Their Farewell Tour a few years ago was magnificent.

Thanks for the wonderful link.

Below is a link to my favorite Statler Brothers song, which is rarely heard. I have this song on vinyl but these days do not have the equipment set up to play it. Hopefully you will enjoy it.

Dean
Daddy

Nice. The Statlers were classic and I grew up with their music. Now I've been listening to the Cathedrals and Gold City on YouTube. They're top notch too. Gold's bass man has the lowest voice of anyone I've heard.

Gordo,
Really?!! The Statlers performed there? We have not seen them since our son was about 5 years old - he is now 18.

Would be fun to see them again!

DaveGA,
Thanks for the suggestion... we will check them out on youtube.

Husband and I the Statlers and we have nearly every album or CD they ever made...also some DVDs.

Dean,
Yes, that is a great song. We have an extensive collection of Statler's music... and that one is definitly on our "favorites" list.

Another good on is called, "Dad". It may be available on youtube. It is a neat song.

Mike (WA)
Will check out "Mary Did You Know". Thanks for the suggestion.

Now Mike, I can't get your an instrument panel for a fruitcake... I HATE fruitcake. LOL.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours.
SweetFeet

Great song Dean. Both are great songs!
I have a turn table hooked to my PC.
I used it to copy many of my old records to CD.
If you'd like to have that one on CD, send me an email. (open on modern view)

Gordo,
Thinking that must be the Oak Ridge Boys. One of those fellers, William Lee Golden, has had a beard down to he belt for years. He also spent many years living in a bonafide teepee.

The Statlers are mostly in their their mid-70s... except their tenor, Jimmy Fortune, who is much younger. They have always been pretty well groomed guys.

Royse,
That is what we do too. Transfer LPs to digital format. Nice of you to send Dean a copy if he wants one.

Merry Christmas!
