While on this site my 'puter will load the first dozen or so pages very quickly, and then I'll click another and it may take 3-4 minutes to load. After that it will go back to nearly instant loading. This happens only on this site. Anyone else experience any thing like this?

At least once per day, and usually even more often. Seems the only solution is to go to a completely different website for several minutes and then come back, and sometimes it still doesn't work.

I think the problem would go away if the old, classic version was completely eliminated.

And now we are in lock up mode. Can't even "submit" this reply.

Guys,
I only experience "stuck" or delays when uploading Pics.
What browser are you using?
Broadband speed?
Cable modem?

One of the tricks I find works best is to set your browser to delete all data in its cache when you close the browser.
Sometimes the browser cache contains stale links that are no longer valid and cause screen to hang as it searches to connect to something that is no longer there.
Windows in general does that a lot.
What I mean is clear your desktop of all invalid links to files, url"s etc.
When ever you click on ANYTHING that causes windows to "look" for data it tries to refresh all items so it can retrieve them quickly when you click on them.
Say you use a USB drive and you have some pics on that and you have links on your desktop to those pics. Remove the USB drive and those links are now "broken". Windows has a hissy fit trying to find them and HANGS.

I think a number of the participants would also go away if the "classic version was completely eliminated."

Set your computer to delete all websites when you leave them
this cause it to not hunt for it on the computer. With high speen
you don't need to store them.

Showcrop,
Yes happens sometimes.
I've found that if I hit the "STOP" (esc) then the refresh (F5) bottons on the web browser (top to the right of the address) the page will load.

I have tried that. In fact, I try it everytime the site locks up. It makes no difference.

Mister T,

I use classic 90 percent of the time...but seldom have the freeze-up on the site.

But therre is a free download by Piriform, called CCleaner... when you run it, it wipes out ALL recently typed URLS (but you can save them in your Favorites list), empties your recycling bin, gets rid of all cookies that webistes save on your hard drive, deletes the list of recently opened documents.

I use the CCleaner at work too. Removes a lot of junk from your computer. The program only takes a few seconds to run - I do it each day. Available at download DOT com - just make sure you choose the free edition.

I think its because so many people like me are sitting around surfin while waiting up for Santa. I've been on other websites tonite and this has actually been the fastest

I am using Internet Explorer 8 with Windows XP and when mine stalls I close IE8 and reopen it and that usually solves the problem.

No, the problem never happens on classic. Only happens on the modern. I participate in several different discussion forums. ALL of the others use the same format as the modern version here, and NONE of the others have the same freezing and locking issues that we experience here.

Since this computer I am on now is also used for professional business, I know about CCleaner, and I use it. I also have my browser set to delete ALL cookies when I close it. I also regularly run several other security programs, so I know the problem does not lie within this computer.
