Preparing for the end of the world =)

Was at church this evening after a caroling outing and a few of us were talking about some TV show one of the guys had seen about people who prep. for end of the world type disasters.
He said that he had seen people who prepared for what would happen when the sun spots came and caused havoc, for the extreme weather situations, and for financial collapse.
I said that sounds like what I do every summer when I'm trying to keep my little farm opportunity going.
Prep for massive equipment failure, financial collapse and weather conditions.

More concerned with being prepared for the rough weather they"re forecasting for the next couple days. But then, I try to have my bases covered for power failures, etc, pretty much all the time. If the whole world ends, guess I don"t have to be prepared!

I have no issues with someone having a place to go and supplies on hand but from what I see on those shows the main thing they are missing is knowledge.

What are they going to do when that 6 month supply of food is gone? I have not seen any that keep seeds or other long term supplies. No talk about growing or planning to grow food. I have to wonder if they could come out of those bunkers and truly survive.

I learned a long time ago how to live off the land and taught all my kids the same. We are ready.

'm just waiting until after Friday, to see if I need to do Christmas shopping or not!

Yeah, isn"t buying all that survival stuff for the end of the world redundant? If the world truly ends, nobody survives...nobody.

When our society degenerates into anarchy, you will indeed see the masses, who have never needed to support themselves, migrate to the areas where self-supporting folks are doing just that, and do what they have been doing all of their lives, i.e., take from the self-supporting folks.

The difference will be that the takers will need to supply their own taking force in the absence of similar force from the government.

Such things have happened before and will happen again.

Unlike past situations, the numbers of takers is now enormous.

I agree with some of the others, surviving the 21st is the easy part, how to survive afterwards is the problem i see few surviving. I think their idea seems to be all they have to do is survive a few days and someone will show up to rescue them.

Other than preparing for a big storm or other such disaster, what is the point?. If the economy worldwide totaly colapses, who would want to spend the rest of their lives living like a mole???. The thing they are forgetting is that in the USA we have 104 nuclear reactors containing radiation equal to 100 of the bombs we droped on Hiroshima. If the economy totaly colapses, who will be keeping them from melting down??. Poeple there will be dead or out searching for food. eventually, without human intervention, they will melt down and poision the enviroment. This will lead to 50+ years before we are able to grow crops that will not kill us. Unless you have enough stored to keep yourslef and the family for generations, what is the point???. And then would you want to be the last man alive?? (alone)
