Just have to brag on my son...He called last night, got a 4.0 gpa on this semister college grade. He has only gotten 2 Bs his entire college 'career',been on the Dean's list/honor roll EVERY quarter!Majoring in 'Mechanical Engineering, navy field is Nuclear engineering. One more quarter left and he will graduate and be commisioned an officer in the United States Navy!He is one smart kid(scarry smart). We are proud parents!

Congratulations! to your son. I remember the time, my son called me almost crying because he got his first B ever.

uggggggh if only i'd had those problems

Congrats! My son's got a similar story, in his 2nd year at military college with a USMC contract, and he just earned a 3.86 for the semester.

Congrats to your son! He'll have two ways to jump- career in the military, or an easy time finding an engineering job in the private sector after his enlistment is up, with those credentials.

And then there's me- Tried to major in Civil Engineering back in '67- Just couldn't figure out Calculus- prof called me in to her office, decided I wasn't a screw-off, but just didn't "get it". She said "You're failing the course, but I'll make you a deal. Take the final, do the best you can, and regardless of what you get, I'll give you a D for the semester. But you've got to promise me you'll change to another major that doesn't involve math."

I took the final, was totally lost. Got my exam back, and she was good at her word: "Exam grade F. Course Grade D."

Now words, those I understand. So I ended up going to law school and the rest, as they say, is history.

My #2 son did major in Civil Engineering, got through in fine shape, is now Assistant County Engineer in Grant County, Washington. #1 son, the word guy, is editor of the local newspaper.

You should be proud- always nice to see hard work pay off. He's such a good contrast of too many others today. Thank him for serving!

Hard working farm boys (and farmers) can accomplish most anything they put their mind to. Congratulations to all of you.

No wonder you're proud, and you have every right to be. Engineering is the only college discipliine where you are considered a professional at the baccalaureate level. And there's a reason for that. No one ever transfers into engineering, but a whole bunch transfer out!
Maybe I'm predjudiced, but so be it.
