what kind of vine is this?

I need some help to identify this vine that about to take over my two acre wood lot. In 07 we had a big ice storm that took out about a 1/4 of my trees, mostly the hedge trees broke then grew into giant ball of thorn trees. I have been cutting them out since. But The areas I cut last two winters is now covered with this vine. It stays green year around even with snow on it. I would like to spray the stuff without killing the trees if possible. I don’t know if round up would do it or if I need more of a brush killer. Just don’t want to spend a lot of money and not get the job done right. Thank you for any help.

honeysuckle. That is the effect you get when the large tree covered canvas lets sunlight shine in on the forest floor. Same thing happens when they cut timber. Be thankful you didn't get the saw briars with it.

If 2-4-D doesn't kill it, crossbow will. But be careful around the trees. Roundup works, just have to mix it a little strong.

Chinese honeysuckle, IIRR. Invasive, here in MD. All good things come from china. Goats will eat the heck out of it.

Non-native Chinese Honeysuckle.

It will choke out just about anything including native honeysuckle.

Mowing will control it if it is in areas where you can mow.

"Tordon" would take it out, but you would have to have a license or get a licensed applicator to do it for you. It will sterilize the the ground for seven years so you have to be very careful where you spray it.

Here in NW SC, honeysuckle grows anywhere unless it is in a mowed yard or a pasture. I take it out with Roundup where I want it gone.

As diyDave said, goats love it. In the area where I grew up that was the common way to kill out a patch of honeysuckle, briers, or a lot of other undergrowth. Just turn a few goats in on it and in a few months it would be pretty well gone. (Then you have some fat goats to Bar-B-Que) LOL
