Enjoyed the photos. That pup sure is growing! He will be driving before long. I really liked the last photo, I guess that is sunset.

Erik,
Nice farm pictures. I always enjoy the cattle farm pictures. The cattle look great. Your sidekick sure is growing fast too. Thanks for sharing the photos.

Yep, that's sunset. Wife tagged along for evening chores, I feed twice a day with the unroller. The lone bull gets feed in the evening too, only have 22 fall cows so he's unemployed till spring.

Great pics, unemployed until spring! Hahaha that's a good
one, last pic looks like my patio, charcoal grill, with a gas grill
next to it! Lol

Nice to see the cattle outside, I wish we could overwinter cattle
outside! Our cattle are all on concrete, under roof since the end of
September. And it is really raining today.

Are your cattle under roof by choice or law? I've read some countries have some pretty stiff laws for livestock.

Buckeye, we have no option but to house our cattle in winter, either house them or buy them swimsuits! This year has been exceptionally wet...and to add insult to injury the European union decided we should only spread manure from beginning of Feb to the end of Sept. As straw is scarce and expensive here, we mostly work with slurry tanks, now we have to provide storage for 6 months of the year. I was running 280 head of cattle so that is a lot of shi......

The color you see is the result of some simmental, limousine, and beef master blood. The simmental was my own folly, I bought some about 10 years ago and never had very good luck with them. They had a lot of sickness. The limousine came in through an angus/limo cross bull back about that same time frame when I was still renting bulls, and the beef master came in when a neighbors bull came to visit about 5 years ago. I've been running registered angus bulls the last 8 years, the one in the pic and another came from Swearngin Angus up at Tonganoxie. I've got 5 red cows and the rest of the herd is all black, I have a thing for black baldies and have been toying with the idea of getting a hereford bull. An older neighbor who was a cattleman for 60 years tells me every time I see him that "there are two crosses in the cattle business, angus and hereford and hereford and angus, remember that and you'll do just fine."
