Grain Carts

Anyone here ever used EZ Trail grain carts? All I've ever used have been J&M with corner augers. I have a chance to buy two new EZ Trails at a good price. They have side augers. Mostly would be used in a pinch to hold grain until more trucks could arrive. Would continue to use J&Ms most of the time.

They are a mid line auger wagon. I have always thought their stuff was just a little cheaper built then the main lines (Brent,Kill Bros,Kinzi)

Think back to EZ trail wagons. They where usually handle by the farm and fleet type of stores. Cost was the attraction not quality.

We sold some of there header wagons at the one dealership I worked at. They worked but where not as well designed as some of the others.

I have a E-Z Trail 710. Bought it new 3 yrs ago. I really like it but my wife who runs the carts most of the time DOES NOT! She is used to running our old JD 650 with the front auger. She likes it better than the E-Z trails side auger. But the price is one of the issues-I gave $14000 for the Deere cart in 1983---I gave $14500 for the E-Z cart in 2009! I priced Brent carts and they were twice as high as the E-Z. The welds and the paint were a issue on the E-Z cart-They are made by the Mennonites in Wisconsin-They must weld and paint by KEROSENE lantern! I had to reweld some them.

never buy a center auger wagon. to hard on your back and neck to watch unload.worst with right hand controles.best is front auger on a angle, you look out side window to unload.

Dad has had a couple. Both around 500 bu. Think his new one is a 510. Neck does get a little sore after a day of running it hard combing corn, but overall, a pretty nice cart for the money. Corner auger would be better, but they have made the auger longer on the new ones and that helped a lot.

cousin had a center auger Kill Bros cart, sturdy enough but everything you said true. Used to stand on the seat of the open air 1466 to be able to see grain going into truck.

I have a corner auger and from what the operators tell me ( I don't run it) they prefer it as to center augers. We run an ag cam on the top of the auger also that helps to hit center and see how full things are getting. They tell me the camera is the best for ease of stress.

There are quite a few out in this area we have a 500. They are a fairly well built mid-line cart. The corner auger carts are nice but $$$$$$$. We bought ours on a sale for $3600 probably 10 yrs. ago and put new augers in it a couple years ago. If you are holding for loading semis you can probably buy 2 EZ-Trail carts for what a J&M or Brent costs. Not all the corner auger carts have a long enough auger either. We borrowed our neighbor's J&M 525 one year and had it on the 1086 and you couldn't see the end of the auger unless you leaned out the door. It was a number of years ago and they probably have a longer auger on them now but I wasn't impressed at the time.

I'm going to take a look at that. (longer auger) I can get get two of these EZ Trail carts for very little more than one J&M and like I said, I'll use them mostly for over flow. Combining late at night we can fill up more carts for the trucks in the morning. Otherwise, I'll use the J&Ms with the corner augers. Thanx.

Yes. That's the way I see it. These carts would be extras to hold grain and would only be used in a pinch, especially in corn years. I plant all soybeans one year and all corn the next. This coming year is corn. I can get these two brand new EZ Trails for very little more than one J&M. Thanx.

Dad runs his on an AC 7060 and I didn't have any trouble seeing the auger. If you can see it out of that thing you can see it out of anything. The new ones also have a pivoting head on the auger, so you could point it a ways forward and get the grain discharging forward to help even more.
