John Deere 40U

I have a "55 John Deere 40U that was originally orange. The SN research has a CJ41 code. I am curious what brand and color of orange paint people have used on their orange deere"s?

Probably whatever what the customer wanted. Probably a road commission or highway department.

I have a 320U which was "factory orange". Don"t have access to my documents for two months, but the color was/is an old JD industrial yellow.

Our 40U was also a CJ41 code. The paint color is a 1949 GMC color called Tangier Orange. Centari code is #516(31A). My paint supplier in town says this is what the local Iowa DOT Garage uses for color.If you "Google" Orange 40U our tractor will show up. The picture is actually brighter than the real tractor. Hope this helps
