Guess what crazy thing I'm doing now in this pic...

I know some of you know, but you might cringe when you hear. I pack my nice hopper bottom full of ice melt all winter long! I put a ksi conveyor under it (reason for the wood, need the clearance) and tender into my spreader trucks. Yes, it's hard on the steel track and most everything else. Anyone want to buy a "slightly" used hopper bottom after winter?!

It's not too bad. This will be the third year. Somehow I messed up the picture, oops. Worked great this fall, drought lowered the amount of loads hauled though!

Back in the late 90's, I did the same thing with a trailer load of corn. The ground was frozen, and had it hooked to the tractor. I threw a RR tie under the landing gear and unhooked. Before the trailer was empty, we had a warm spell.

I am not saying you are doing anything wrong, I was just saying I did one day. I didn't have the base you dollied down on though either. If it works, keep it working!!
