This has me stumped 1998 Silverado with little to no air coming from the vents Fan is working you can hear air moving somewhere but not to the vents. There is no change in volume when you go from hot to cold but you can feel the heat difference. I have had the bottom off most of the duck work looking for a blockage or a stuck door but so far nothing any Ideas would be greatly appreciated

Thanks Larry O

No cabin filter on a "98.

I"d bet you have blocked airflow at the AC evaporator.Very common especially in farm trucks where dust and debris get sucked down the outside air intake.

Take out the blower motor and use an air gun with a bendable wand(copper tubing works good)and carefully blow out the inlet side of the evap core which is right ahead of the heater core without getting too rough. There should be a screen attatched to the core, you can take that out and leave it out as it seems to contribute to the problem.

Quoting Removed, click Modern View to see

I have an '01 that I bought new. I never did think the heater/AC worked as good as it should. A few years ago I learned there might be a filter in there, so I went looking, found it, and yes it was dirty. I pulled it out, put the door back on without a filter, and now the system works just like I always thought it should have. Apparently those filters are quite restrictive even when new.

Unless a truck is being operated in extreme dusty conditions all the time, I see no need for that filter.

The switch that controls vent, defrost, heat, air conditioning probably went bad for you. They are noted for doing that. Its hard to find one in a junk yard. 50-75.00 used

If you can hear the fan blowing, the door is stuck.

Lance I’m with you
but like I mentioned I have had the bottom of everything inside and all the doors I can find move and make no difference in air flow. I was hoping there was one somehow hidden that I’m not finding.

No air ANYWHERE? Maybe "squirrel cage" came loose/broke on the fan motor?

Those Haynes manuals don't even make good toilet paper! But seriously, if you stop by the parts dept. of your nearest dealer, (providing you are on speaking terms), they may show you the breakdown on the computer, Especially if they think they may sell a part.

Do you expect a shop to diagnose a problem over the phone?
