This one is fine but did lose some leaves due to lack of rain last summer Baby American elm by my wood pile. So are it’s doing fine. I have to be carefully not to bury it or drive over it. Hope it outlasts us - if it ever goes, my husbands shop and our outhouse will possibly get toasted. We have two others that are the same age, but smaller because they are planted too close to each other. We also have three by our garden planted about 5-6 years ago. [Reply]  [No Email]

It's probably 3 foot across at the base, 50-60 foot tall. Theres another in my neighbors field directly down wind about the same size. I wonder if they are related and have a resistance? They just get up so big and die off. Dutch Elm Disease. With the bark just starting to get bad it would be ready to cut and burn next winter. At least that's what I do, let them dry on the stump. We had HUNDREDS of Elm trees at home in WI. ALL of them died from Dutch Elm Disease.A real shame as some were beautiful huge trees. [Reply]  [No Email]
