What should it bring????????

Ferguson TO on a consignment auction tomorrow. Paint gone, front tires shot, rears decent. Appears to have a five speed trans. Shifter felt nice and tight.

Auctioneer said it was driven to the auction site and actually didn't sound bad, maybe a bit of an exhaust leak somewhere.

The auction is only six miles away, so I might have to go and see what it brings. Small auction, the auctioneer estimated an hour and a half.

TO Ferguson never had a 5 speed transmission. THe 20 & 30 were 4 speed and the 5th position was the starter plus they had a reverce. The 35 had a 6 speed transmission and I do not know where the starter was on them but they were a 2 stick tranny with 3 speeds plus a high-low range tranny. The 4 speed tractors could have an axuliary tranny installed that was either an over drive, under drive or a combination over and under that would give you 12 speeds forward while the first 2 would give you 8 speeds forward and they would also give an extea gear or 2 in reverce.

That makes sense. The casting wasn't too clear, and I didn't think a 5 speed sounded right.

Just came from the auction. The Ferguson sounded like a 2 cylinder John Deere when they started it, and it brought $1800. Unreal.

An M Farmall, straight old tractor, bad paint, all new tires brought $1900, but I don't know if it sold. The auctioneer let it slip in private conversation yesterday that he needed $2300 or it was no sale.

A straight, original JD 3020 with narrow front brought $3750, about right for the tractor.

Last To 20 & 30s around Michigan in the condition you describe have gone from 600-1000 tops.

Wow, to me at least, that is high for a TO, at least around these parts.

I saw three at an auction not too long ago, 2 went for 600, other 750. All three ran, and were driven on the trailer, one guy bought two. Overall they were fair to rough, a wire or two hanging down, but no reason you couldn"t use them the next day.

All it ever takes though is two guys that want the same thing and bidding can get crazy. I just hope that the two crazy bidders are around when I decide to sell my stuff.
