1950s chevy truck air filter

Found an old air intake in a shed today. No part number, but it says AC air cleaner and silencer on the tag. Looks like an oil bath, and im thinking it came from a 1951 one ton dad had. In pretty good shape really, was wondering if anyone had a ballpark value?

I put one of those on the jewlery wagon for an auction that I was helping set up for one time. It ended up in the "first dollar takes it all" pile on the corner after everything else was sold off.

for a lot of these old trucks after they were retired from active work, the first thing to be removed was the oil bath air filter. for some reason when they were never restarted the air filter remained off, either placed along side the engine or in the cab and then lost. the hood may or may not have been closed, however the engine's intake was then exposed to the elements. that stated, these things were produced in abundance over a long number of years, there is no shortage and prices seem to remain low. on a side note-the original wing nut that mated the two pieces together may be of more interest to the true collector than the unit itself.

One of those items, worth 5o cents as scrap iron, unless you are trying to restore such a truck and need it, then it's probably worth $100.

Anything in beteen is hard to find anyone to speculate & pay more for an item that will just sit around.

Kind of a lottery ticket item, rarely big bucks, but likely near worthless?

You might put it on Ebay, might be just the item a couple of restorers are looking for. Being that old I would not throw it in the junk.

The problem is that even if someone is restoring an old truck, they will likely not want to put an oil bath air filter on it with so many aftermarket particle elemnet filers available. If you were to go through all the work of restoring such a truck, would you want to replace the oil bath filter with a disposable element. I certainly would. The only way anyone is going to want an oil bath filter is if the truck is purely for show.

I've got one a little newer but it is used on my 1958 GMC grain truck. Mine it still earning its keep as the only grain truck here.
